Services / Settlement and Family
For couples planning marriage in the UK before switching to in-country spouse leave.
To obtain a fiancee visa, a wedding in the UK may be provisionally booked at an Anglican church, but this is not mandatory.
Most registry offices do not allow full booking until the fiancee is in the UK with the correct visa, though some allow provisional booking.
After marriage in the UK, FLR(M) must be submitted so the spouse can begin the first 30-month probationary period and remain lawfully in the UK.
The FLR(M) application must be filed before fiancee leave expires.
A fiancee is normally not entitled to routine NHS treatment other than as a fee-paying patient before switching to spouse leave.
If the applicant is pregnant at application stage, a substantial NHS trust deposit may be requested before visa grant in some cases.
After marriage and grant of the first 30-month spouse visa period, NHS entitlement normally changes to standard resident access.
Applications require relationship proof plus financial and accommodation evidence.
English-language and Tuberculosis requirements apply where relevant, and a sponsorship letter is part of the standard evidence package.
Current fee levels should be checked on the fees page before submission.
Assistance is available for preparation and filing support.
