Minimum Salary Requirements

Today the UK Government announced that the new minimum salary required to sponsor a wife, husband or partner will increase to Ł29,000 on 11th April 2024.

The minimum salary for a skilled worker to get a visa will be Ł38,700 from 4th April 2024.

Immigration Health Surcharge Increase

The UK Government is increasing the IHS as from 16/01/2024 to Ł3105 for a settlement visa for an adult and Ł2328 for a child under 18. These figures are approximate as they are not paid in Łsterling and will depend on the prevailing exchange rate.

For further leave to remain in the UK this will be Ł2587.50 for an adult and Ł1940 for a child under 18.

VISA DELAYS

We have been advised today that the Home Office are now taking about six months to process family and settlement applications after attendance at the application centre in Bangkok. This is due to the situation in Ukraine.

Within hours of Tony being interviewed twice by ITV Meridian for the news at 6 today the case in question has been immediately overturned by the Home Office and the visa issued. This was a case where the Home Office refused a settlement visa for a wife by applying the incorrect rule. Tony was asked for his comments on this case.

My BRP says it expires on 31/12/2024?

If you have recently applied for indefinite leave to remain or for further leave to remain in the UK you may have noticed that your biometric residence permit has an 'expiry' date of 31/12/2024.

This is NOT the case unless your leave actually expires on that date.

The Home Office are discontinuing the use of BRP cards from 01/01/2025 to be replaced by an online system to check your immigration status, right to work or right to rent.

Your leave continues to be valid without a BRP card and the date of expiry of your leave is as in the letter or E-mail from the Home Office granting you leave. You will not get a replacement BRP card.

In early 2024 the Home Office will announce details of how you can access information about yourself. This weill entail setting up a UKVI account for yourself which will be linked to your passport number for ease of travel. You will be able to generate a 'share code' to prove your immigration status to a landlord or employer. You can update your personal information in your account for example if you get a new passport.

Your BRP number
Your passport
Access to an E-mail address
Access to a smartphone
